Double Dye Weekend actually translate to:
Half of the population's dye drops went to the other half of the population.
So it was double dye weekend... with the same amount of dyes dropping overall.

I got 1 white, 1 silver, 1 brown, 1 purple, 2 reds, 1 blue, 1 green, 1 yellow and 1 orange. More than I got in previous 5 month combined.
BUT I used 3 different characters. And the chances of getting Dyes were progressively lower, the longer I played on 1 character.
This game is so random.

...I got about 7 dyes.
Including 2 white dyes.
All during a short farming session on the newb island of NF.
Just cleared zones from kamadan through to some of the other places...

I got 1 yellow, 1 orange, and 1 brown.
Now....for me, this is a bad drop. I've been called the dye lady before, because of all the dye drops I get.
My first character, my ele, had 6 blacks before she ever left pre-searing (Okay, so I deleted 4 of them accidently when I put them on a pvp-only character).
A friend and I joke about making pre-searing characters just to farm dyes. We will most often, by lvl 5 (when we leave) have filled up our bags with materials and every color of dye (I haven't tried with the whites yet).
So this weekend was a HUGE disappointment. I kept thinking, double dye drops? Where? Who? Oh wait, they'd be with the gold and purple, and max damage weapon drops that I never see either.

Dye drops are so rare and random that nobody actually cares... we probably wouldn't notice an increase unless they were increased 10-fold.

The OP played 50 hours during 3 days. Wow i'm impressed. The most i've ever played was during the old beta events and that was 35-40h per 3-day weekend.
I dedicated around 1 and a half hour to farming dyes in Elona during the weekend. I found about 17-18 dyes (1 black 1 white, no silver). So for me the event was ok, nothing really special but increased drops were clearly visible.
It's all about how you do it - going with 7 hero/henchies around high level areas is not the way to go for sure.

I got none all weekend.. Then when i started a new toon and got outside Kamadan i got 2 dye out of the first lot of monsters there..
Then i thought.. Oh cool, dye. 2 Blue.. yay.. I love finding dye.. I don't know y i just do.
Didn't think much of the drop rate for the weekend though. I think since being a fun item they should make dye drop like the jade wind orbs did for the dragon mask.. It's dye. A coloring agent. It should be dropping all over the place. Lets have a 10,000 x chance drop weekend just to get the supplies up and running. I would much prefer to be getting large amount of dye drops than a large amount of white weopons.

I wonder if the reason that there wasn't a noticeable increase in dye drops was that in NF, the drop rate was generally lower than the other 2 campaigns, as such, doubling a low rate might still be pretty low.
I did PvE for a couple of hours during the weekend and I got around 5 dyes, just crappy ones. Haven't seen a white before, and haven't seen a black is a very long time. Funny that I seem to be getting alot of browns.

I thought it was fine. I spent about 6 hours of actual dye farming (me, solo, right outside of Kamadan), and got 22 dyes. No white though, and no black. 10 of them were orange. *sigh*. I can't really complain though.
On the plus side, I wont lack for drake flesh.

LoL, double dye...Riiiight. Instead of .00000000000001 is it (.00000000000001 x 2)? Woohoo, my chances went to .000000000001.
cheers!

.00000000000001 x 2 = .00000000000002 not .000000000001

Got no dyes. Instead I got two gold swords this weekend with a 20/20 sundering on each of them. I couldn't care less about the double dye weekend.
It was an event easy to implement for Anet but nothing fancy or unique though. But some people wanted it I guess.
